Are library collections and resources available online and accessible off-campus?

The University Libraries include seven on and off-campus branches and contains more than two million volumes as well as periodicals, government publications, microforms, maps, recordings, audiovisual and digital materials; and electronic databases. Most are easily referenced electronically with "Ask-A-Librarian". This online service provides a knowledgeable librarian (a real person) who will answer your questions using either e-mail or chat services in real time.

Students may also take advantage of the interlibrary loan systems. I-Share makes the libraries of Illinois state partnering institutions available to NIU students, faculty, and staff and the NIUILLiad system for requesting material from partnering institutions all over the country for free!
